Chapter 77: "Sanmiao Thunder: Slaying Aoi Xu in Blood Battle". [79]
Summary
The Great Lord of Sanmiao returned to a strategically valuable camp after a temporary victory against the imperial army, which was unable to launch further attacks for at least two months due to troop shortages and logistical issues. The Sanmiao coalition planned to eliminate the imperial garrison in Qing and Xu provinces during this time. The imperial forces, weakened and suffering losses, could only maintain a stalemate against Guandou's rebels. As the Sanmiao coalition's troops arrived, the imperial garrison, misled by Guandou's retreat, launched a raid that ultimately backfired. The Sanmiao coalition then executed a surprise attack, encircling the garrison and destroying their supplies. Despite a desperate breakout attempt by the garrison in Xu province, they suffered heavy losses and only a fraction of their troops managed to escape and regroup with the Qing garrison, marking a significant defeat for the imperial army.Full content
