Chapter 78: "Winds and Clouds of Hong Shan". [80]
Summary
The Sanmiao Army's surprise attack on Qing and Xu troops led to a significant victory, boosting the Sanmiao Allied Forces' morale and complicating the imperial army's campaign. Following their success, the Sanmiao forces grew to nearly 200,000, pressuring the Hong Shan tribe to align with them. The Zhen clan women, married into the Hong Shan tribe, were tasked with gathering intelligence to prevent the Hong Shan from siding with Sanmiao. Despite facing insults and provocations from Sanmiao women, the Zhen clan women maintained their composure to fulfill their mission. Tensions escalated when the Sanmiao demanded supplies harshly, leading to the Hong Shan Da Jun's frustration. The Sanmiao women accused the Zhen clan women of vying for the Da Jun's favor, prompting the queen to investigate. The Zhen clan women cleverly presented a crystal gifted by the Da Jun to the queen, improving their standing with her. Meanwhile, the Sanmiao's arrogance angered the Hong Shan Da Jun, who felt trapped by their strength. To sway him towards the imperial army, Jiuzhou Mu was sent to negotiate, assuring the Da Jun that the imperial court would not blame the Hong Shan for supplying Sanmiao, while urging him to resist their demands.Full content
