Chapter 76: "The Marriage Alliance of Hong Shan and Sanmiao". [78]

Summary

The Great Lord of Hong Shan, grateful for being spared by Zhao Ting, proposes a marriage alliance with Sanmiao instead of a military one due to his tribe's lack of strength. The Great Lord of Sanmiao agrees, and within three days, a marriage is celebrated between Hong Shan and Sanmiao. However, Hong Shan also marries a maiden from the Zhen tribe, which displeases Sanmiao but does not significantly affect their relationship. Hong Shan's neutrality benefits the Zhao Ting army, allowing them time to regroup against the Sanmiao coalition, which is preparing for an offensive. As the Sanmiao coalition plans to attack, Taibao Zhen orders a retreat to avoid confrontation, leading to a fruitless attempt by Sanmiao to engage the Zhao Ting army.
