Chapter 77: Chickens Flying, Dogs Jumping. [78]
Summary
Li Su is feeling devastated after a night of drinking, having lost his dignity, manners, and a fortune. He was forced to sign documents by Cheng Yaojin, and now his high-end distillery has been looted of half its profits. Li Su tries to comfort himself, thinking that eating a loss is a blessing in disguise, but he's still feeling agonized. Meanwhile, Cheng Yaojin is over the moon, laughing and gloating about his victory. Li Su tries to make one last effort to recover his losses, but Cheng Yaojin dismisses him, telling him to go back to sleep and forget about it. Li Su leaves the Cheng estate, feeling disconnected from the world and wondering how much he's lost. As he sits in the carriage, he's overcome with emotion and lets out a deep sigh. Meanwhile, Cheng Yaojin continues to mock Li Su, revealing that he had voluntarily drafted and signed the contract, and that he had begged Cheng Yaojin to sign it, even holding onto his thigh and crying. Li Su's face turns greyish-blue as he listens to Cheng Yaojin's words. The situation escalates, and the Cheng family begins to wreak havoc on Chang'an City, targeting their old enemies and destroying their shops. The people live in fear, not knowing who will be the next target. The Imperial Censors file a complaint against Li Shi Min, but Cheng Yaojin beats them up, insisting that they were plotting against the Cheng Family. Li Su is hiding in Taiping Village, waiting for the situation to unfold, when he receives news that Zhao, the owner of the printing shop, has revealed the secret formula for movable type printing.Full content
