Chapter 62: "Taibao of Zhen: Final Battle with Sanmiao". [64]
Summary
Taibao Zhen, furious over the losses of his vanguard troops, ordered them to continue tracking the enemy after a meal. He sought to establish contact with the garrison in Ji Zhou by sending out scouts. As they marched, news of a battle to the southeast reached him, prompting him to send cavalry to support the court's stationed troops. The garrison in Ji Zhou had suffered heavy losses from an ambush by tribal forces, leading to a significant reduction in their numbers. Despite this, they began moving towards the main army, only to be ambushed again but managed to regroup. Upon meeting the court's main army, the garrison commander expressed immense joy. Taibao Zhen learned about the dire situation from the garrison commander and realized the three major tribes had declared war. He convened a military meeting to prepare the army for potential attacks, emphasizing the need for vigilance and readiness in enemy territory. The meeting concluded with a consensus on the urgency of their situation, recognizing the challenges ahead in their campaign against the tribes.Full content
