Chapter 608: Changing Hearts and Minds. [612]

Summary

Du Gu Shun returns home to find his residence surrounded by soldiers, led by Gu Yi, the magistrate of Jingzhao, who accuses him of potential betrayal. Du Gu Shun defends himself and later summons his trusted guard, Yu Qian Feng, to send a message to General Qiu. As night falls, Yu Qian Feng stealthily leaves to deliver the message. Meanwhile, General Qiu Shili, loyal to the Du Gu family, receives the message from Yu Qian Feng, urging him to pledge allegiance to Li Yuan. Qiu Shili agrees to act on Du Gu Shun's request. In parallel, Li Yuan's strategy to capture Chang'an involves using bandits to weaken the defenses before sending in elite troops. Qiu Xingong, Qiu Shili's brother, approaches Li Shi Min with a letter from Qiu Shili, confirming their support for Li Yuan and offering to open Chunming Gate for his forces.
