Summary

Dou Jiande's surrender to the Sui army was expected due to his weakened forces. Zhang Xuan accepted his surrender and allowed him and his willing subordinates to return home, disbanding Dou Jiande's army. That night, Luo Shi Xin urged Zhang Xuan to kill Dou Jiande to prevent future threats, but Zhang Xuan decided to monitor him instead, fearing that killing him would discourage other surrendering troops. Meanwhile, Li Yuan's forces besieged Chang'an City, leading to high tensions among local nobles. Du Gu Shun, feeling the pressure from Li Yuan's advances, sought Dou Wei's help but faced rejection regarding his previous support for the Yuan family. Dou Wei suggested that Du Gu Shun could still align with Li Yuan for future benefits, but he refused to involve himself in the Jiang Du incident. Du Gu Shun returned home contemplating his next moves to support Li Yuan.
