Summary
In a misty basin inhabited by Nether Mantises, Miao Yi is guided by a zither melody to safety. He encounters a mysterious scholar at a cliff's edge, who warns him about the dangers of the basin and the fate of those lacking fortune. The scholar, named Old Bai, reveals he cannot move a massive zither, which Miao Yi attempts to seize but fails. They discuss the risks of mentioning the zither outside, as it could attract trouble from immortals. The scholar plays the zither again, entrancing Miao Yi, who answers his questions in a daze. The chapter concludes with the scholar gifting Miao Yi a simple yet beautiful necklace.Full content
