Judgment of Dayu.

Chapter 56: "Iron Case Verdict: The Conspiracy of Emperor Yi and the Scheme of the Ji Clan". [58]

Summary

The chapter details a meeting convened by Grand Chancellor Xia Qi to discuss interrogation plans regarding Yi Di's envoy and the Duke of the Ji clan, suspected of colluding against Dayu. Two plans were proposed: one involving dividing the three divisions into two groups for quicker questioning, and the other having all divisions work together, which would be slower but more authoritative. The group ultimately agreed on the first plan. During the interrogation, Yi Di's envoy initially denied the accusations but, faced with overwhelming evidence and the fate of another defiant prisoner, confessed to colluding with the Duke of the Ji clan against Dayu. The Duke, under pressure from the elder statesmen, eventually confessed as well. Their confessions were documented, leading to a solid case against them. The elder statesmen reported the convictions to Emperor Yu, who realized the threat Yi Di posed to Xia Qi.
