Judgment of Dayu.
Chapter 57: "Winds and Clouds of the Imperial Palace: The Self-Exculpatory Edict of Emperor Yi". [59]
Summary
Dayu summoned Yi Di and key officials to discuss confessions implicating Yi Di in collusion with criminals. Yi Di, initially unaware of the confessions, attempted to deny responsibility, claiming his envoy misinterpreted his orders. However, the Three Dukes and elder statesmen confronted him with evidence of his secret dealings, urging him to accept self-punishment. Under pressure, Yi Di reluctantly agreed to issue a decree acknowledging his failures. The next day, the decree was announced, leading to Yi Di's loss of power and prestige, effectively making him a figurehead while Xia Qi took control of the realm.Full content
