The Three Kingdoms: The Prodigal Son of Shu Han, starting with a fiery blaze at Wolong Ridge.

Chapter 541: Kill One, Gain a Day's Ration. [539]

Summary

In this chapter, the gates of Chang'an open to welcome twenty thousand Xiongnu captives, who seek safety within the city. Jia Xu, the Grand Marshal of Wei, mocks their capture and refuses to provide food unless they prove their worth by bringing back the heads of Han soldiers. The captives, desperate for survival, are manipulated into fighting against the Han army, despite being unarmed and poorly equipped. As they face the renowned general Zhang He, the Xiongnu suffer heavy losses, with over a thousand casualties in just two days. Jia Xu views their deaths as a means to conserve resources, while Zhang He taunts the Xiongnu, challenging them to take his head. The captives, seeing a glimmer of hope, charge into the Han ranks, ultimately leading to their encirclement and impending doom. Zhuge Liang offers them a chance for survival, but the situation remains dire as they realize their fate is sealed.
