Chapter 54: "Pouring Wind and Slaying Tigers: The Path of Wang Ji". [56]

Summary

Taibao, accompanied by martial arts experts from the Xiahou clan, leaves the Wei clan for the Royal Capital, ensuring the safety of envoy Yi Di and the great lord of the Ji clan. Despite being pursued by the Tiger Guard and Leopard Guard, Taibao's strategic travel patterns thwart their attempts to abduct the prisoners. As they near the Royal Capital, the guards launch a surprise attack, resulting in a fierce battle. The Xiahou expert engages the attackers, and after a prolonged fight, the Tiger and Leopard Guards retreat. Taibao emphasizes the need for vigilance, hastening to the barracks while arranging for the prisoners' custody. Grand Minister Xia Qi prepares for their interrogation, planning to force Yi Di into compliance with court demands. Dayu instructs Xia Qi to ensure the prisoners do not see anyone before their trial, aiming to solidify Xia Qi's power and undermine Yi Di's authority. The joint trial by the Three Departments is set to be rigorous, with the potential to shift the balance of power in the court, humiliating Yi Di and establishing Xia Qi's dominance.
