Chapter 40: "The Undercurrent Surges: The Storms Rise Again". [42]
Summary
Qi, following Dayu's orders, mobilized troops to block roads to the Ying Clan and prepared for potential rebellion. He coordinated with various clan lords to eliminate the Ying Clan's insurrection and dispatched martial arts experts to ambush the envoys. Qi ensured the cavalry guards maintained distance from the envoys and monitored the Inner Court's movements. He sought Yi Di's approval for an inspection of garrison troops, which was granted, allowing Taibao from the Zhen Clan to proceed. The Ying Clan, independent and resentful of the court, saw an opportunity to ally with Yi Di against Dayu. The Ying Clan's great lord planned to gather intelligence on the envoys and collaborate with the Ji Clan to restore their power. Realizing the envoy's visit signaled royal intentions, he resolved to strengthen his military and prepare for conflict against Dayu and his son.Full content
