Chapter 41: "The Western Mission: The Ji Clan's Secret Plot and the Winds and Clouds of Imperial Decree". [43]

Summary

The Yi Di envoys traveled through various tribes, receiving warm welcomes, particularly from Clan Chief Nan Shan of the Ji clan, who delayed their departure to buy time for military preparations against potential threats. Despite the envoy's attempts to feign ignorance about his true intentions, Clan Chief Nan Shan was aware of the envoy's mission due to prior correspondence. After the envoy's visit, he continued to the Ying clan tribe, where he was greeted with respect according to royal protocol. In a private meeting, the Yi Di envoy presented a secret document from the Emperor to the Ying clan leader, instructing him to protect the Ji clan leader and prepare for action against Xia Qi. The Ying clan leader planned a banquet for the envoy and arranged a meeting with the Ji clan leader to discuss the Emperor's directives for a united campaign.
