Summary

Zhang Xuan is troubled by Yang Ji Er's impulsive shopping spree, which he finances. Despite his lack of money, they visit Fang Ji Candy Shop, where Yang Ji Er becomes enamored with the candies. A shopkeeper suggests buying on credit, but Zhang Xuan is hesitant about using his guard's badge as collateral. Yang Ji Er offers her valuable jade hairpin, which attracts the attention of Zhang Chuchen, a young woman he recognizes from previous encounters. She insists on buying the candies for Yang Ji Er, who is thrilled. After a brief exchange, Zhang Chuchen leaves, leaving Zhang Xuan uneasy about their unresolved tensions. Later, after returning Yang Ji Er to the Wanbao Golden Tower, Zhang Xuan is stripped of his guard duties, blamed for the incident. That night, he struggles with calligraphy and is unexpectedly summoned by the Empress, leading him into the inner palace where he prepares to meet her.
