Chapter 27: Half a Year of Scheming. [30]
Summary
Empress Xiao visited Yan Wang's residence to check on her grandson, Yang Tan, and assess his studies. She was pleased with his knowledge, leading them to the study for writing practice. Meanwhile, Zhang Xuan, a guard, sought to retrieve his military dagger from the little princess, Yang Ji Er. After locating her hiding in the wisteria, she insisted on going shopping, claiming a previous promise from her mother. Despite Zhang Xuan's concerns about her safety, Empress Xiao permitted the outing, recognizing the princess's desire for freedom. As they set off to Fengdu City, it became clear that the shopping trip was heavily guarded. Yang Ji Er, dressed in boy's clothing, was visibly displeased with being confined to the carriage. At the jewelry store, she instructed Zhang Xuan to guard the back door, and unexpectedly attempted to escape through a window. After a chaotic chase through various shops, she successfully evaded him, expressing her joy at finally experiencing freedom. Zhang Xuan, though frustrated, felt sympathy for her longing for adventure and reluctantly agreed to accompany her on her shopping spree, starting with a stall selling sugar figurines.Full content
