Summary

The chapter narrates the infatuation of the Great King of Hong Shan with a Beauty from Huai Shan, leading him to propose marriage with lavish gifts. Despite initial resistance from the Great King of Huai Shan, the marriage is approved after the Great King of Hong Shan showcases his treasures. However, his neglect of tribal matters and misuse of treasury funds prompts discontent among the common folk and tribal leaders. Dayu, upon learning of these grievances, calls for a court assembly to address the issue. During the assembly, the Great King of Hong Shan admits his guilt, and the Great King of Huai Shan reveals that the treasures sent to him were misappropriated from the treasury. Dayu decides on a punishment that includes doubling tributes and repayment from tribes benefiting from the treasury, while also showing mercy by not imposing military service. Afterward, Qi expresses dissatisfaction with the leniency of the punishment, but Dayu emphasizes the importance of maintaining trust and considering the greater good.
