Chapter 19: Recommendation [137]

Summary

In the chapter, two young temple priests discuss their refined lives compared to the pursuit of fame and fortune by others. Li Hao, overhearing them, disrupts their chess game by tossing pieces onto the board, inadvertently helping one of the priests by creating a new opportunity in the game. Li Hao then visits a tavern to inquire about Master Bai Chun Hai. Inside, he finds a lively atmosphere and a challenge involving a dagger hanging from a candle. Despite the odds, he successfully retrieves the dagger without disturbing the flame, impressing the onlookers. Afterward, he approaches three young martial artists who were discussing Bai Chun Hai, asking for directions. Initially met with hostility, he offers to retrieve the dagger in exchange for information. The young martial artists are shocked when he succeeds. They agree to help him find Bai Chun Hai, leading him to the Master's Debate Platform, where Li Hao expresses his intent to buy a painting from the master rather than become his disciple.
