Chapter 127: The Meeting of Ruler and Minister. [131]
Summary
Li Su was summoned by Emperor Li Shimin to the Taiji Palace. Upon arrival, he was led to the Anren Hall, where he met with the Emperor. Li Shimin revealed that he was the official Li Su had met twice before, and they had a conversation about the small ceramic vessel Li Su had created. The Emperor asked Li Su about his thoughts on using the device to conquer the world, and Li Su responded by saying that it was not the device itself, but the hearts of the people who wielded it that mattered. Li Shimin was impressed with Li Su's answer and decided to grant him a county as a reward. However, Li Su felt that the title was not enough and asked if he could report directly to the Emperor if he came up with something new. Li Shimin agreed and also asked Li Su to name the ceramic vessel, which he suggested be called "Gentle years," but the Emperor decided to name it "Thunderbolt" instead. After the meeting, Li Su was informed that the County title of Jingyang had been recorded in the Ministry of Rites' registry, and a formal document would soon be sent to the Li Family.Full content
