Chapter 126: Returning Home in Glory. [130]
Summary
Li Su returned to his village, Tai Ping, with over a dozen riders, and the villagers bowed to him with great reverence, indicating that news of his ennoblement had already spread. He sighed, knowing that his new status had changed his relationships with others and he could no longer maintain an equal identity with his fellow villagers. Li Su's father, Li Dao Zheng, was pleased with the grandeur of his son's entourage and asked him to put on his official attire and take a walk around the village. However, Li Su was tired and decided to take a nap first, as he had to go to Chang'an City the next day to meet the emperor. Li Su handed out coins to the knights as a token of appreciation for their escort services and prepared to enter the city. He wore his formal light crimson official attire and tucked away his official documents and waist plaque. Upon arriving at Chang'an City, Li Su dismounted his horse and led it forward, as riding horses was not allowed in the city. He reported to the Ministry of Rites and waited in the office for notification. Shortly after, a eunuch from the palace arrived and ordered Li Su to enter the Taiji Palace immediately, which was unusual for officials below the fifth rank.Full content
