Chapter 105: "The Ingenious Strategy of Filling the Ditch: Sanmiao Army vs. the Court". [107]

Summary

The Sanmiao Allied Forces retreated after failing to breach the filled trench, prompting a strategic shift to focus on the east gate of the Zhao Ting army's camp. They devised earth-moving carts to fill the trench while protecting their troops. The Zhao Ting army, noticing the Sanmiao forces filling the trench, attempted to counterattack but faced repeated disruptions. The Sanmiao leader planned to lure the Zhao Ting army out for a decisive battle by using the trench as bait. However, initial attempts to fill the trench were thwarted, leading to a reassessment of tactics. The next day, the Sanmiao forces resumed filling the trench, prompting Taibao Zhen Shi to order a counterattack. An ambush ensued, with the Zhao Ting troops caught off guard. Realizing the trap, Taibao Zhen Shi dispatched reinforcements to rescue his besieged troops. The Zhao Ting light and heavy cavalry coordinated their efforts to break free from the ambush and retreat to safety, successfully covering each other during the withdrawal.
