Chapter 106: "Filling the Ditch Battle: Sanmiao's All-In Bet". [108]
Summary
The Sanmiao Allied Forces changed their strategy from fake ditch-filling to forcefully filling the ditches, preparing for a decisive battle with the Zhao Ting army. The Zhao Ting army, led by Taibao Zhen, responded by launching a proactive attack to sabotage the enemy's ditch-filling operations. The Sanmiao forces were unable to maneuver and had to withdraw their forces. The Sanmiao leader decided to engage the Zhao Ting army in battle while they were surrounded and fighting on two fronts, aiming to annihilate the enemy forces and break through the Zhao Ting defenses. The Sanmiao forces committed their entire army, engaging the enemy on both flanks, while the center focused on filling the ditches. The battle continued for some time, with both sides suffering heavy losses. Taibao Zhen sent a request for reinforcements to Grand Minister Xia Qi, who ordered the naval forces of the Huai Shan and Yi tribes to convert into land troops and assist the Zhao Ting army. The Sanmiao tribe was also commanded to concentrate all household guards for a surprise attack on the Sanmiao forces' supply routes. The strategy proved effective, and the Sanmiao forces lost their opportunity for a strategic decisive battle against the Zhao Ting army.Full content
