Chapter 10: "Drunkenly Lighting the Lamp to Watch the Child's Journey, Hidden Dangers Amidst the Unfinished Storm". [12]

Summary

Gao Tao becomes suspicious of his son's spending after discovering an IOU to Dayu. His son claims to have borrowed money for home renovations, intending to repay it from his job in horse administration. However, he is actually living extravagantly, funded by the Zhen brothers, leading Gao Tao to mistakenly believe his son is successful. Dayu and his allies plot against Gao Tao by praising him to lower his guard while secretly monitoring him. When a flood devastates the Guandou tribe, an investigation reveals that Gao Tao's son misappropriated disaster relief funds, implicating Gao Tao as well. The court, influenced by past grievances against Gao Tao, calls for severe punishment. Dayu, shocked by the findings, decides to solidify the case against Gao Tao, planning to provoke him into treason. Despite the gravity of the situation, Dayu chooses to delay meeting Gao Tao.
