Strange Stories From A Chinese Studio.
Chapter 000: King of the Nine Mountains. [61]
Summary
The story follows two interconnected tales about the supernatural vengeance of foxes. In the first narrative, a scholar named Li burns a group of foxes in his garden after receiving mysterious gold coins. Years later, a wandering sage helps Li rise to power as "Jiu Shan Wang", but ultimately betrays him, leading to his capture and execution. The second story involves Qiu Gong, an official who destroys a fox colony using cannons. Subsequently, a mysterious old man orchestrates Qiu Gong's downfall by revealing his hidden silver and accusing him of corruption. Both stories demonstrate the foxes' cunning ability to seek revenge and manipulate human affairs through supernatural means.Full content
