Summary

Liang You Cai, a bachelor from Shanxi, becomes infatuated with the beautiful Cui Xian while climbing Mount Tai. Despite her rejection, he cunningly proposes to her mother, who agrees to the marriage. After their wedding, Liang descends into a life of gambling and theft, leading to Cui Xian's desperate suggestion to sell herself for money. Ultimately, Liang sells her to a brothel, but Cui Xian confronts him at her wealthy home, revealing his deceitful nature. Furious, she exposes him, and the servants attack him for his betrayal. After a harrowing escape from a cliff, he is saved by a woodcutter, left to reflect on his misdeeds.
