Summary

In Zhaoyuan County, Zhang Yu Dan, a free-spirited scholar, fell for the beautiful Lu Gong Nü, the daughter of the county magistrate. After her untimely death, he honored her spirit, leading to a supernatural relationship where she visited him. Lu Gong Nü asked Zhang to recite the Vajra Sutra for her. After five years together, she revealed she must be reborn in Hebei and asked him to meet her in fifteen years. As time passed, Zhang’s fortunes changed, but he remained devoted to her memory. When the reunion approached, he declined his sons' marriage suggestions, recalling his promise. Upon arriving in Hebei, he learned of Lu Gong Nü's daughter, who awaited him, determined to fulfill their previous bond.
