Summary

In the land of Chu, a poisonous herb known as Water Mang can trap souls, transforming victims into suffering ghosts unable to reincarnate. Scholar Zhu Sheng encounters a mysterious old woman and her beautiful maid, who serves him tea laced with this deadly poison. After realizing the danger, Zhu Sheng's friend identifies the maid as a Water Demon, leading to a desperate quest for a cure. Despite attempts to seek help from the maid's family, they refuse, believing in her rebirth. Ultimately, Zhu Sheng succumbs to the poison, leaving behind a grieving mother and an orphaned son, as tragedy unfolds in the wake of his fate.
