Map of the Kingdom's Warfare.

Volume 115 - Chapter 0115: Battle and Dispute. [118]

Summary

A fire in Panshui Bay created tension in Pyongyang as the Sui army landed, keeping Goguryeo's troops on high alert. Goguryeo, weakened from previous wars, faced a dire situation, having sent armor to the Turks for assistance, which never arrived. Amidst despair, a rebellion within the Sui dynasty provided temporary hope, but it was quickly followed by a new Sui invasion. Quan Huan, a significant official in Goguryeo, learned that his son was captured by the Sui army and sought peace negotiations to secure his release, despite opposition from Yuan Tai Zuo, who favored war. The king, Gao Yuan, was caught between the two factions, with Yuan Tai Zuo advocating for a decisive battle, claiming that only a small Sui force was advancing. The chapter ends with a decision to prepare for combat against the Sui troops.
