Summary

In Henan, Wen Ren Sheng, bedridden and ill, encounters a humble scholar who guides him to the Examining Department, presided over by the Ghost King. The scholar warns Wen to offer a piece of his thigh meat to the Ghost King, linking their past lives. Horrified, Wen witnesses cruelty as a man slices his thigh, prompting his plea to Yama for justice. The Ghost King retaliates, punishing the scholar. Later, Wen meets a beautiful woman named Liu, but his lack of money leads to embarrassment. When he sees her transform into a demon, he flees, lost and hungry. The scholar rescues him, revealing the maid’s rudeness and leading him home.
