Chapter 000: Hungry Ghost. [218]
Summary
Ma Yong, nicknamed the "Hungry Ghost," was a poor man who scavenged for scraps in his village, disregarded by the townsfolk. He received help from Zhu, a kind elder, but refused to work. After moving away to escape Zhu's kindness, he resorted to burning ceremonial robes for warmth, leading to a twist of fate where he extorted the wealthy. This caused a backlash from the students, demanding justice for the officials punished. Years later, Zhu’s son, Ma Er, became a teacher but was harsh and intolerable. Ultimately, a student's failed attempt to appease him led to his demise, consumed by bitterness and rage.Full content
