Summary

Li Yan Qing, after finishing his training, realizes he’s late for Professor Guo Bai Song's important lecture on Zhou Li at the state academy, which could provide hints for the provincial examinations. He rushes to Wen Si Tang, where Guo Bai Song, despite his age, delivers a lively lecture. The students are anxious about rumored reforms to the examination system, and Guo Bai Song reveals significant changes: a reduction in admission slots for Xiang Prefecture, a new two-round examination system, and increased difficulty for the provincial exam. The merging of subjects means poetry and criminal law will now be part of the Jin Shi subject, causing panic among students who had not prepared for poetry. After the lecture, many students, including Li Yan Qing, feel overwhelmed and rush to petition the principal for help, realizing they have limited time to prepare for these new challenges.
