Chapter 984: Battle of Taiyuan (25). [988]
Summary
Chuluo Khan observes the Sui army's camp from a distance, noting its strategic layout and the challenges posed by the terrain and defenses. He plans to use the Bayegu tribe to launch an initial attack to demonstrate strength, despite concerns about their numbers. Jin Luo, the Bayegu leader, is ordered to break through a section of the camp wall, but the front-line commander Zhishi Sili expresses doubts about the plan. Tensions rise as Zhishi confronts Chuluo Khan over his treatment of the Iron Le tribes, but the Khan remains resolute. The Bayegu cavalry charges the Sui camp, initially finding no traps, but they soon face a devastating volley of crossbow bolts and arrows, suffering heavy losses. Jin Luo calls for a retreat as the Turkic forces regroup for the night, having lost nearly 70% of their cavalry.Full content
