Chapter 980: Battle of Taiyuan (21). [984]
Summary
Wen Mu Tie concealed the truth about the Sui army scouts seizing a skin raft, leading to Chuluo Khan's misjudgment. Instead of retreating east, the Turkic army, under Kang Su Mi's guidance, continued westward, planning to ambush the Sui army. Wen Mu Tie met with Kang Su Mi, who pressed him for the truth about the Sui army's actions. Realizing the severity of his negligence, Wen Mu Tie hesitated to confess to Chuluo Khan, fearing for his life. Kang Su Mi, aware of Wen Mu Tie's illiteracy, manipulated him into supporting Mo Ya Lun as High Priest by tricking him into pressing his handprint on a scroll that actually supported Chuluo Khan's brother as the new Khan. The Turkic army then arrived at Lin Quan County, where they found it deserted but with usable wells. Zhi Shi Si Li reported the river's conditions, revealing that crossing would be difficult without horses. As they contemplated their next move, a soldier reported unidentified vessels on the Yellow River, prompting Chuluo Khan to investigate further.Full content
