Summary

As the supply convoy approached the city, they encountered increased patrols from the Jin Ren cavalry. A Nü Zhen general questioned them but was not overly suspicious, allowing them to continue after Wu Hai Ling presented the command token and military orders. However, the general warned them to stay alert for the Song army. As they hurried towards Taiyuan City, they were pursued by the Nü Zhen cavalry led by Wan Yan A Su, who suspected something was amiss. Just as the Jin Ren cavalry charged, thousands of Song soldiers revealed themselves, ambushing the cavalry with a volley of crossbow bolts, leading to a chaotic retreat for the Jin Ren. After the battle, Wu Hai Ling met with General Gao Chong, who had come to assist them, and they successfully delivered a significant supply of gunpowder to the city. Concerns arose about the danger of transporting prepared gunpowder, but plans were made to create shells using abundant pig iron.
