Summary

As Li Yan Qing and his 2,000 men advance, Liu Qi leads a larger contingent to join forces for a coordinated attack. The Song army scouts cautiously navigate the Hushan Grand Canyon, discovering that Shangyi Pass, a critical defensive point, is lightly guarded. After a reconnaissance mission reveals the enemy's lax defenses, Yan Qing and Zhang Shun debate who will lead the surprise attack. They ultimately decide to draw lots, with Zhang Shun winning the chance to lead. As night falls, the Western Xia stronghold at Shangyi Pass remains vulnerable, with guards dozing off, setting the stage for a stealthy approach by the Song soldiers.
