Summary

Mei Lun and his dog Spike are on their way to Fei Leng Cui, overhearing rumors about a terrifying entity called the Red Devil, which Mei Lun realizes refers to his companion, little Hong Lian. Despite the rumors, he comforts Hong Lian, who has been trying to avoid causing harm. As they travel through the desolate landscape of the Southern Wilderness, they reach the grand city of Fei Leng Cui, where Mei Lun manages to enter without complications. The next morning, he registers as a Wilderness Hunter at the guild, receiving a black iron adventure rank. While searching for tasks, he encounters a trio of young hunters who invite him to join them on a quest to gather Glimmering Mushrooms in the Verdant Forest. Mei Lun accepts the invitation, hoping to gain experience without altering Destiny.
