Summary
Governor Xu Shao, alarmed by the approaching Sui army, encounters General Feng Tai, who reveals the Sui forces arrived by water after setting ships ablaze. As chaos ensues with fires consuming the docks and warehouses, Xu Shao struggles to manage the situation while laborers seek refuge behind closed city gates. Inside the city, Liu Lan Cheng leads Sui soldiers in a coordinated attack against the Tang forces, exploiting the confusion caused by the fires. Despite being outnumbered, the Sui soldiers execute their ambush effectively, leading to the death of Feng Tai and the surrender of Tang soldiers, who are subsequently slaughtered. Liu Lan Cheng interrogates Xu Shao and County Magistrate Luo Hui Ming about the Tang army's whereabouts, learning that 50,000 troops have entered Badong County. He then takes Luo Hui Ming's son hostage to ensure compliance, plans to secure Yiling County, and prepares to intercept the main Tang force.Full content
