Summary

Li Yuan adjusted his military strategy as the Tang army prepared for an eastern expedition, appointing Pei Ji to assist Li Yuanji and reinforcing troops in Taiyuan. He disbanded the Yan'an County garrison, reallocating those troops to Li Shi Min. Qin Qiong, initially overlooked, found favor with Li Shi Min and was appointed commander of a new elite cavalry unit, the Xuan Jia Army. Meanwhile, Zhang Xuan dealt with Meng Hai Gong's envoy, Li Bai Yao, who sought mercy after serving the Sui dynasty under duress. Zhang Xuan offered him a chance for atonement instead of an official position, showing compassion for his recent loss.
