Summary

Hu Chuan Er and his father, Hu Li, discuss the implications of Zhang Shun's association with the notorious river bandit, Rend. They learn that Rend has surrendered to the Jiangning government and is now training a navy at Taihu. Concerned about Zhang Shun's intentions, Hu Li decides to meet him. Meanwhile, Li Yan Qing, a celebrated commander, arrives in Yangzhou after a long journey. He takes a break with his companions, Zhao Jin Fu and Hu Qing Er, enjoying the scenic beauty of Shugang. They stop at a humble tea shed for refreshments, where they engage in light-hearted conversation about history and their surroundings. As they relax, the atmosphere is interrupted by the arrival of new guests.
