Summary

Under the western and northern walls of the inner city, Li Yan Qing deduces that the Jin soldiers plan to tunnel into the city, likely from the western side due to better cover from buildings. Meanwhile, the Jin army suffers from a severe epidemic, with thousands infected and dead. Wan Yan Xie, the Jin commander, reflects on their failed siege tactics compared to past victories, ultimately deciding to retreat after discovering a secret passage near the city. He visits the reclusive former Prime Minister Cai Jing, who now lives in modest conditions, revealing the contrast between his past power and present life.
