Summary

The chapter takes place six months after the previous events, in a remote mountain path outside Fengcheng. Shi Mu, wearing a straw hat and raincoat, is seen sprinting through the heavy rain and taking shelter in a mountain temple. He meets a middle-aged man, Zhong, and his 14-year-old daughter, Xiu Er, who are also seeking refuge from the rain. Shi Mu shares his roasted wild boar with them and learns that they are on their way to Fengcheng to visit relatives. As they converse, a Hopping Vampire, a humanoid monster, bursts into the temple, causing panic and fear.
