Chapter 720: Flooding Yan City. [725]

Summary

Luo Shi Xin, anxious for an attack order, organizes a contest among soldiers for siege strategies, hoping to influence his commander. Various tactics are proposed, including fire attacks, smoke tactics, and using disease-infected corpses, which are met with skepticism. Luo Shi Xin presents three viable strategies: using an earth mound to breach the city wall, heating and cooling the stone walls to cause collapse, and flooding Yan City by breaching the levee of the nearby White Wolf River. As heavy rains begin, the Sui army prepares to implement the flooding strategy. Despite initial joy in Yan City over the Sui army's retreat, caution prevails as they realize it may be a trap. The rain causes significant flooding, leading to panic among the Goguryeo soldiers. Ultimately, the flood breaches the city gates, resulting in chaos and devastation as the waters engulf Yan City.
