Summary

Tong Guan learns of the Jin army's invasion and the emperor's imminent retreat. He bribes palace attendants to stay informed. His son, Tong Yan Si, bursts in with shocking news: the emperor has abdicated. Tong Guan is furious at the delayed message and realizes the danger he is in with the crown prince about to ascend. He decides to head to the army for protection but is ambushed by soldiers led by Li Yan Qing, who captures him. Meanwhile, Tong Yan Si attempts to gather troops for a rescue but is killed by soldiers. In the Eastern Palace, Crown Prince Zhao Huan anxiously awaits news and is thrilled to see Li Yan Qing return with Tong Guan captured.
