Summary

Buddha Tathagata discovered Tang San at Tartary's border as the eighth trial began. Guanyin was instructed to send Bai Long for the ninth trial. Upon meeting Tang San, disguised as an old woman, she had to revert to her true form after he recognized her. Guanyin offered a tightening hoop to control Sun Wukong, who had gone to the East Sea. Sun Wukong returned with riches, and Tang San humorously critiqued the hoop's aesthetics. Guanyin, frustrated, sought to move on but Tang San insisted on keeping the hoop until it was improved. Eventually, Guanyin summoned the White Dragon, and chaos ensued as Sun Wukong mistook him for a monster.
