Chapter 655: They Are Still Fighting [655]
Summary
Zhao Zonghou discovers a damaged jade seal with the inscription "Da Bao Yu Tian," reflecting on the historical significance of the Kingdom of Yu Tian and its struggles during and after the Tang Dynasty. Despite their victories, the Tang faced heavy losses in the battle of Talas and later were disrupted by the An Lushan Rebellion, leading to a prolonged struggle for the Han people in the Western Regions. Li Sheng Tian, who reigned for 50 years, hoped for reinforcements that never came, yet he and his descendants defended the Central Plains against the Karakhanids. The tragic history of Yu Tian is recounted, highlighting the sacrifices made by its people. Zhao Zonghou feels guilt over the Song Dynasty's failure to assist the Han people. During a visit to refugees, Zhao Zonghou encounters Li Li, the last messenger of Yu Tian, who shares his harrowing journey and the plight of his people. Despite losing most of his companions and facing despair, Li Li pleads for help to rescue Yu Tian. He expresses his desire to adopt the surname Zhao in honor of the Song Dynasty. Wang Ning An reassures Li Li of support and promises to send reinforcements to aid Yu Tian. After a day, news arrives that the people of Youzhou are still fighting against the Kara Khanate, inspiring hope for their survival.Full content
