Chapter 63: Initial Breakthrough. [66]
Summary
Zhang Xuan's team traveled eastward for ten days until they reached the Wan River, where Li Jing informed them they were close to Julu Lake and revealed their mission to find a missing shipment of armor. Zhang Xuan remained noncommittal about helping due to uncertainties regarding Wuchuan Prefecture's intentions. Wei Chi Gong shared that Li Jing had taught him martial arts, but Li Jing did not recognize him as a disciple. That evening, while camping, Zhang Xuan pondered the significance of the missing armor, suspecting it might be a trap by the Turkic people to justify expansion. Li Jing suggested that the Turkic people might have intentionally allowed the armor to be stolen. Zhang Xuan sought Li Jing's advice on his martial arts practice, struggling to stabilize his newfound power. Li Jing identified an imbalance in Zhang Xuan's training methods and proposed a solution involving a modified pill. After a rigorous training session at the river's bottom, Zhang Xuan successfully broke through to a new level of strength. He emerged from the water, elated, and encountered a massive fish, the Dragon Spine Kun, which was valuable for its tendons. As Zhang Xuan celebrated his breakthrough, he tested his new strength with Cheng Yaojin's axe, feeling it was a perfect fit.Full content
