Summary

A mother commemorates her husband's death anniversary by performing a ritual at the river dam with her son, Mu Xing. She believes the river ghost took his life and prays for his reincarnation. Suddenly, her husband, Mu You, emerges from the water, shocking them both. They share a joyful reunion, but just as quickly, Mu You vanishes again. In a twist, Mu Xing's mother transforms into a monstrous entity, revealing her true nature. As she binds Mu Xing with tentacles, he realizes she is no longer his mother. In a moment of despair, he succumbs to her embrace, feeling a strange blend of pain and tenderness before fading into darkness, reflecting on the vastness of the universe.
