Summary

Tong Guan confronts his adopted son, Tong Yan Si, about the unexpected death of Zhong Lin, which occurred after a prison doctor treated him. Tong Yan Si feels regret for not releasing Zhong Lin earlier, while Tong Guan realizes that the cancellation of the victory ceremony for the Northern Expeditionary Army has serious implications, including offending the Crown Prince and making enemies with Zhong Shi Dao. Tong Guan instructs Tong Yan Si to investigate the circumstances of Zhong Lin's death and the prison doctor's suicide. Meanwhile, Zhong Shi Dao prepares for the victory ceremony, but is informed by Gao Shen that it has been canceled due to political reasons, causing outrage among his generals. Zhong Shi Dao tries to calm them down, recognizing that the cancellation is likely tied to court politics involving influential figures like Tong Guan. Later, Zhong Shi Dao learns from his steward, Chen, that his family has suffered a loss, leading to his fainting upon hearing that his son, Shichiro, has died.
