Chapter 610: Vajra Enters Jin. [614]
Summary
Song Jin Gang, feeling despondent as he watched rivals thrive, is encouraged by strategist Yao Kai to consider retreating to Bingzhou with his remaining troops. Yao Kai suggests that Zhang Xuan has intentionally left the western front unguarded for their escape. After contemplating the risks, Song Jin Gang decides to act, rallying his troops to head towards Tumen Pass. Upon arrival, they are unexpectedly allowed to pass by Sui cavalry under Pei Xingyan, following Zhang Xuan's orders. As Song Jin Gang and his men proceed into Bingzhou, Wang Ba Xu also retreats towards Liu Wuzhou, indicating Zhang Xuan's growing control over Hebei. Meanwhile, in the Sui army camp, Fang Xuan Ling discusses military merit recording with Zhang Xuan and Li Jing, advocating for a separation of powers to prevent abuse within the intelligence agency. They consider the implications of Li Yuan's envoy entering Hejian County, which could complicate their strategic position in Hebei.Full content
