Chapter 6: The Ill-Intentioned Maki Miyazawa. [5]

Summary

In Chapter 10, titled "Maki's Uneasy Kindness," Maki Miyazawa unexpectedly encounters Sawayama Haruno while being dragged to the cafeteria by her friend Uemura Reina. Surprised to see him, Maki realizes he is dining with another girl, which leads her to think Haruno has moved on and is no longer interested in her twin sister, Mana. Maki seizes this unexpected situation as an opportunity to provoke Mana and retaliate for Haruno’s perceived favoritism towards Mana. Uemura Reina suggests they sit with Haruno and his companion, Mine Shiori, reasoning that their past high school connection will make it easier for them to join. As Maki prepares to approach them, she and Shang discuss their plan, and Maki’s demeanor shifts from anxious to mischievous. Meanwhile, Haruno, seated with Mine, learns that Maki has become popular on campus, though he finds it perplexing that she willingly engages in such public social interactions. When Maki and Shang finally approach the table, Maki cheekily initiates conversation with Haruno, trying to playfully stir up tension with Mana. Despite her intentions, Mine Shiori invites them to sit together without hesitation, which throws Maki off her game. Maki leans in, whispering to Haruno, suggesting she has a secret about Mana that would pique his interest, hoping to keep her true identity concealed. As they converse at the table, Mine Shiori realizes that her friend Mana had never mentioned her past relationship with Haruno, which sparks confusion among the group. Maki tries to maintain her cover as Mana while subtly navigating the dynamics at play. Throughout the meal, tensions rise as hidden feelings and past relationships resurface, setting the stage for further complications in the story.
